For NUCLEUS « Prolificacy » means « weaning capacity »!
Good work of our GGP farmers on prolificacy increase has given results! According last study of NUCLEUS R&D department, performances of Large White GGP sows, mothers of boars actually in our AI Centers, reached high levels.
With average number of 16.7 total born piglets and 15.5 live born, those elite animals manage to wean 13.4 piglets/sow/litter leading to annual productivity close to 35 PSY. "Excellence of today will be norm of tomorrow" says Jacques Gourmelon, head manager of NUCLEUS SAS. "Hard work of our GGP farmers on prolificacy and maternal qualities produce animals which are not only able to farrow high number of piglets but also able to wean them". "We are consequently totally in accordance with our customers when producing gilts with high prolificacy and good maternal qualities in order to wean lots of piglets" according to Jacques Gourmelon.
