NUCLEUS Genetic in China to be bred locally
During last term of 2015, NUCLEUS exported 1000 breeding pigs for a selection farm of the Company Henan Cooperl Xinda Pig breeding situated in the Henan. This company is a joined venture between Henan Xinda Muye and Cooperl.
Cooperl, is the biggest French pig Cooperative, producing, slaughtering and meat processing over 6 millions slaughter pigs per year. Highly appreciated for its genetic potential and its high sanitary status, this exportation of Nucleus breeding pigs (the 2nd for the year 2015) increases the presence of NUCLEUS Genetic in China.
After their arrival in Zhengzhou airport, animals were placed in quarantine during 40 days under the supervision of the Chinese Veterinary authorities. Everything ran well during quarantine. After quarantine was over by mid-December, animals are now on the preparation phase for reproduction.
Buildings have been designed according to the highest French State of the art rules for technical and sanitary aspects. All buildings of the farms (1500 sows, in closed circle, i.e. with post weaning and fattening units) are under air-filtration. Jacques Gourmelon, head manager of NUCLEUS precises: "Air filtration system combined to air sur-pressure is a technology managed for more than 15 years on French NUCLEUS farm and an efficient tool to help maintaining the highest sanitary status of animals". Beyond air-filtration of building, strict bio-security rules are applied for all entery into the farm: workers, equipments, tools...
This farm is currently under the supervision of a French Manager (Bruno Augier) who is assisted by 2 French Farm Technicians. They are in charge to teach Chinese farm worker how to obtain and express the maximum genetic potentials of NUCLEUS animals.
To reach this aim of expressing the full genetic potential of NUCLEUS breeding pigs, the farm will be run according to French management and genetic rules:
- each of the four breed Large White, Landrace, Pietrain and Duroc have its own batch management20 batches for Large White, 7 batches of Landrace...
- use of French software for collecting information for breeding evaluation
- genetic evaluation in the French BLUP system: all animals present on the farm (imported and the future ones born in Henan farm) will be evaluated monthly in the French BLUP system. It will enable to compare genetic values of animals present in China with French ones and ensure same genetic progress as on French NUCLEUS farms.
In a few months, the highest genetic potential and highest sanitary status of NUCLEUS breeding pig produce in China, by Chinese, for Chinese according to French State of the art standards will be available.
